BEAUTIFUL BAHAMAS WEATHER â?" 320 SUNDRENCHED DAYS A YEAR

Weather in the Bahamas is heavenly with an average of 320 sunshine-filled days a year, accompanied by a balmy 80ºF (26ºC) daytime average temperature. Temperatures drop slightly in December to April with the average daytime temperatures of 70ºF (21ºC). The islands also have a constant cooling wind sweeping in from the east so the white sands never get too hot.

The mild rainy season is from late May to November. Most years the rain only disturbs the islands for a few hours a day and often only at night. Hurricane season is officially June to November, with July and August being the months they are most likely to occur.

All in all, the Bahamas has one of the most idyllic climates on the planet. You can do most activities throughout the year but here are some tips on the prime time for the most popular Bahamian experiences.

THE BIGGEST SHARKS COME OUT DURING THE BAHAMIAN RAINY SEASON

The best time to spot large sharks is from May to November, when the weather is a bit wilder out in the deep Atlantic. These conditions bring larger species closer to shores.

Keep in mind that if you are diving during the rainy season, there’s the chance that inclement weather will cause your activity to be cancelled. The best plan is to book a backup day with the tour operators, in case weather gets in the way. The dry season, from December to April, is more reliable if you are on a tight schedule.

Even if you aren’t keen on meeting sharks face-to-face, many regular divers will cite November to April as an incomparable time for viewing a variety of sea life migrating from colder waters. The waters are also clearer during this time of the year.

The Best Season for Fishing in the Bahamas

The best season for fishing, with the most variety of species, is May to July. There is plentiful marlin, dorado, tuna, barracuda, amberjack and more. Game fishermen tell us that October is the worst month, but bad by Bahamian standards can still be pretty good.

THE BEST TIME FOR SURF IN THE BAHAMAS

Surfers recommend December and March, when the North Atlantic produces solid groundswells on a regular basis. Try Eleuthera Island for the most famed and reliable surf at this time.

Some fearless surfers are also attracted by the potential huge swell that the hurricane season brings some years. If you want to take your chances on some hurricane juice, August is the best time.

THE BEST SEASON FOR FAMILIES IN THE BAHAMAS

Christmas and New Year’s offer lots of family interaction and the chance for kids to enjoy heaps of activities at resorts with new friends while their parents kick back. On the other hand, families may want to be a little pickier about where they book during Spring Break.

THE MOST ROMANTIC SEASONS IN THE BAHAMAS

If you are looking for a beach to yourself, and perhaps with a special someone, the best time to come is May to November. It is the country’s off-season and the mild rainy season only adds to the romance as you snuggle in your luxury resort and watch the bursting blue vein storm clouds come and go. Escape crowds by going to one of the Family Islands, such as Exuma, Abaco, Eleuthera, Grand Bahama or Andros.
