THE PALAPA GRILL: A PICTURESQUE SPOT TO SPEND AN EVENING

THE PALAPA GRILL: A PICTURESQUE SPOT TO SPEND AN EVENING

Great Exuma is home to many excellent restaurants. But perhaps the best culinary experience on the island is just steps from your luxury villa at Grand Isle Resort & Spa.

The Palapa Grill offers a stunning array of foods to meet anyone’s taste, from seafood dishes, to succulent meat, to artisan pizzas. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Feel like something a bit more casual? Take a seat at the bar and order a Kobe beef burger, and wash it down with Bahamian beer.

The Palapa Grill offers a little bit of everything, and it’s perfect for casual dining, large groups and more intimate encounters. Check with reception for nights when there is live music and entertainment.

WHERE IN GREAT EXUMA TO FIND THE PALAPA GRILL
If you’re staying at Grand Isle Resort & Spa, it is impossible to miss. The restaurant is located right beside the infinity pool, and features a more casual bar area and then a formal, elevated space under a hut. Every seat in the house has a great view of the pool and the ocean in the distance. Grand Isle is perched just above Emerald Bay beach, which helps deliver these gorgeous vistas.

For a special night, be sure to reserve a table in the hut, and make sure you’re as close to the pool as possible. Those tables afford the most spectacular views, especially during sunset as you enjoy a beautiful meal and a few drinks.

If you’re not staying at Grand Isle, you can reach the Palapa Grill off the main highway. When driving away from George Town International Airport, simply take note of the Sandals sign. Continue down the highway and make a right-hand turn off the next roundabout towards Grand Isle.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE PALAPA GRILL IN GREAT EXUMA
As the resort’s only restaurant, the Palapa Grill is fortunately quite versatile. It is appropriate for snacks, casual dinners or a special night, depending on where you choose to sit and what you decide to order off the menu.

Your dress is equally flexible. For breakfast and lunch, it is not unusual to see other patrons in bathing suits and flip-flops. Dinner tends to be a more formal, although not overly so. Shorts and a golf shirt for men, for example, and a simple dress or skirt for women, would suit just fine.

Entrée dinner prices range from anywhere from $17 to $50. It just depends: do you feel like a tasty, thin crust pizza, or steak with Bahamian lobster tail?

At the Palapa Grill, you can count on friendly service, good value and delicious dishes.
